Y plus or minus X%
What you get
The answer, directly
A number plus or minus a percentage of itself, with no working out by hand.
One page, both directions
Add or subtract with the same two fields, so a markup and a discount use the same page.
Decimals welcome
7.5% and 12.25% work, written with either a point or a comma.
Nothing is stored
Your numbers stay on your page. We do not store them or send them anywhere.
How it works
- Enter the starting number.
- Choose whether to add or subtract.
- Enter the percentage and get the result.
Worth knowing
How it is worked out
Adding 15% means the number plus 15% of itself: the number times 1.15. Subtracting 15% means the number times 0.85.
Two discounts do not add up
Two 10% discounts, one after the other, are not a 20% discount. The second discount comes off a number that is already smaller, so 100 becomes 90, then 81 — not 80.
Frequently asked questions
How do I work out a discounted price?
Enter the original price, choose Subtract, and enter the discount percentage. The result is the price after the discount.
How do I work out a tip?
Enter the bill, choose Add, and enter the tip percentage. The result is the bill with the tip added.
Can I use a comma for decimals?
Yes. Both 7.5 and 7,5 work — the page understands either and writes back the form your language uses.
Is the result rounded?
To two decimals, which is what money uses. A whole result is shown whole.
