What you get

How it works

  1. Enter the number.
  2. Enter the total it is part of.
  3. You get the percentage.

Worth knowing

What the percentage means here

The percentage is the number divided by the total, multiplied by 100. 15 out of 200 means 15 divided by 200, then multiplied by 100 — 7.5%.

A quick sanity check

If the number equals the total, the percentage is 100%. If it is half the total, the percentage is 50%. That is enough to tell at a glance whether the result looks right.

Frequently asked questions

What if the number is bigger than the total?

The percentage comes out above 100%. 250 is 125% of 200.

Can I use a comma for decimals?

Yes. Both 7.5 and 7,5 work — the page understands either and writes back the form your language uses.

I know the percentage — how do I get back to the amount?

For a percentage of a number there is a separate tool, which multiplies instead of dividing.

Is the result rounded?

To two decimals, which is what money uses. A whole result is shown whole.
