Days until
Examples
What you get
The countdown
How many days are left until the day you care about.
And in weeks
The same days, split into whole weeks and the days left over.
Which day it falls on
See in advance whether it lands on a weekend or mid-week.
It updates itself
The count starts from today, not from a date written down somewhere.
How it works
- Pick the holiday, or enter your own date.
- You get the days left until then.
- You also get the weeks and the day of the week it falls on.
Worth knowing
The count starts today
Today is not counted and the target day is. That gives the number you expect: if something is tomorrow, there is one day until then.
A holiday rolls over on its own
Once the day has passed, the page starts counting to next year's. Nothing has to be edited and no page is left showing a stale number.
Frequently asked questions
Is today counted?
No. We count the days left, so if the day is tomorrow the answer is one day.
What happens after the holiday passes?
The page moves to next year on its own and counts to that.
Can I enter a date in the past?
Not here. For days between two past dates there is the days-between-dates tool.
Why is Christmas a different day in Russian?
Because Orthodox Christmas on the old calendar is 7 January. Each language has its own page, with the date its readers use.
